Skyrocket

   Skyrocket

The tide is creeping in upon the shore,

But I'm not standing by the ocean anymore,

That was years ago when my innocence remained,

That was long ago when the sunlight wasn't stained,

At times I'm negative and fear is all I cling to,

At night I'm curious,

Will I rise and face the day?

Or will I sleep my life away?

I kept my tears in a bottle,

There they shined the darkest light,

Keeping the beauty of my pain in the plainest sight,

I was content with being uncontent,

Thought I stood solid when my soul was bent,

Then lying there in the darkness,

With my hand in my pocket,

In this twisted game straight through the rain,

Flew a beautiful skyrocket,

I hear a voice break through the noise,

You say, "I put that in the sky for you,"

You're not the only one searching lies for something true,

When you are standing over my shoulder,

Laughter echoes through the lightyears,

The rising love rids me of my ugliest fears,

Beauty is pain,

And after pain is dead and gone,

Hope is all that's left to gain.

For every broken dream and every tear I cry,

For every tortured scream and every cold goodbye,

For every open wound and every blast of pain,

There's a skyrocket dancing through the rain.
