                                                          For Bill

You came to us when we were young and made an odd impression,

How were we to know a kid like us could teach the most important lesson,

You grew as we did,

You found what we hid,

You ate our food and sometimes more,

When we were trapped inside the world you propped open heaven’s door,

You listened to the words that we sometimes left unspoken,

You taught us the only real way to heal what's broken,
You helped the boys grow into men and all the girls watched in awe,

As all your eccentricities no longer seemed like a flaw,

You told the truth and did your best to be bold,

Even though you have to leave us as your life starts to unfold,

We’ll see you every day in memories of the meanings and the stories that you told,

You followed your father’s will in a feces like caravan,

Even though you giggled like a girly girl, you lived as a godly man,

Even though we may not hear your voice,

We’ll never forget your choice,

You stayed with us through all these years,

Despite the worries and the fears,

You let us hear your laughter and witness your tears,

Someday years from now you’ll walk back in and tell us your best stories,

And we’ll hear how father used you to fulfill his many glories,

Thank you for every single thing you did and all that you will do,

You were a hero in the way most true,

Even when we weren’t ourselves, you always remained you.
