A Life Worth Leaving

A Life Worth Leaving
Like the water from a mountain stream slipping through a fading crack,
The blood in my veins is flowing forward, never running back,
The only dream that breathes inside me in the present and the past,
Is to live each day I’m given like it’s the very last,
I want to truly love and hold one man,
Until the day eachother’s voices are all we understand,
In each prayer I pray,
That when I am old with hair streaked gray,
I’ll still have the heart of the awestruck little girl standing by the ocean’s bay,
To speak my heart above my mind,
To aid in setting others free even when I am confined,
To travel distant lands and still feel right at home,
To realize a hand’s guiding me and I never walk alone,
If there’s one task in this world I won’t die without achieving,
It’s to live a life worth leaving.
